Repeat - Version 0.8.1.2 - Sissel's Route Complete!

Shoutout to @Utakoloid (Twitter) for drawing this adorable cover art so that I didn't have to show anything spoilery for this announcement!

Aaaaaah I'm so sorry for the long wait, thank you all for sticking with me through this long journey! QWQ

We've finally reached the end of Sissel's route. I hope you all enjoy the conclusion to our bunny boy's long journey and his time at the culinary tournament!

I've added everyone (as of today) to the end credits sequence of Sissel's route, so keep an eye out for your names.

Again, AAAAAAA I finally finished a VN route, I can't believe it. I will probably spend some time creating one more Repeat hotfix after this to iron out any issues and perhaps add a few small tweaks. Afterwards, I will be jumping right back into Temptation's Ballad. Thank you for supporting me for so long everyone! <3

Changelog:

  • 58 new pages (20,937 words) of story Sissel's route!
  • Sissel's Route - Part B: Day 23 is now complete.
  • Sissel's Route - Part B: Day 24 is now complete.
  • Sissel's Route - Part B: Day 30 is now complete.
  • 18 new illustrations for Sissel's route.
  • 2 new expression variation sprites for Hershel
  • 2 outfit variation sprites for Jinny
  • End Credits sequence featuring 30 sketches
  • Another wave of grammar/typo fixes courtesy of Crestfallen Crumpet's diligent reports!
  • 27 pages (7778 words) of scene/dialogue variations added throughout Days 1 to 9! These variations fairly minor and does not change the direction of the story, but are fun little easter eggs/lore drops for folks replaying the game. Variations are visible upon fully completing one of the character's routes (so only Sissel's route lmao)
  • Sissel's Route B - Days 22, 23, 24, and 30 have been added to the Chapter Select screen!
  • 1 new illustration! Reworked the Repeat title screen.
  • The title screen now changes slightly depending on which character routes you've fully completed.
  • Added "Reset Persistent Data" option on the main menu! This is for folks who want to replay Repeat as a fresh game and avoid scene/dialogue variations that occur after completing a route. Confirming this option will erase all persistent variables in your game saves. Your current save files on your machine will remain untouched.
  • EDIT (06/01/2024):
  • Fixed certain Chapter Select options taking you to the incorrect date.
  • Fixed certain scene variations not displaying properly.

Sissel's route was such a journey an enjoyed every second of it. You (an team) did a wonderful job. Enjoyed Owen's route as well an will patiently wait for this work of art. To make a grown man cry at the heart sting tugs gah so good. Hope to see more in future from this VN and any others you dream up.

I might give TB another go since this was so good.

It lets me update even though I don't have this game. When I click update it won't open.😭😭I have downloaded it once and deleted it, but when I download it again, it won't load. HELP

What an emotional roller-coaster sissels route has been! Cannot express how much this story moved me. And the ending had such a collateral beauty to it, almost bitter-sweet.....wait was sissels cupcakes meant to be a metaphore for the ending???

It felt like my heart got rip out when I saw the dialogue if you chose "repeat again" and the scene where Euca ask Echo to open the way to Halley's time zone. My bad boy felt like it was goodbye and it is! I don't wanna leave him after all that had happened! Even if someone said that it would be like as if he never existed in the first place, my baby boy might feel like someone is missing. Please don't tell me that Owen's and Phillip's routes will be even darker.

It feels special seeing this come to a closure after so many years, so awesome.

Sissel is very cute and I like him very much, and I sincerely hope I can see Owen's route finshed in the future

As muh as i prefer the og design, this is still a massive & great achievement 👍👌

Will ''Repeat again'' route have something new?I'm kinda expecting for it.;;;w;;;

Have finally gotten around to playing this again after a long time of putting it in hold and to hear that sissel's route is done, i just had to get back on it, i think the last i recall is it was when the update was up until knowing that bit with herschel and the debt collectors, finished this route and my god its so beautiful, the parts where i would just laugh out and then bits where it would just make me feel teary eyed, this is such a rollercoaster of emotions this one, you did very well on the progress so far and definitely here for seeing how it progresses in the future, will admit back then when i heard and saw the sprite rework, it took a little bit to adjust but its actually not that bad, can definitely see the improvement in artstyle after going through the days in the game, very much enjoyed every bit of what it has so far, keep up the great work shiro and wishing you awesome days to come ^^

SHIRO I DID NOT GIVE YOU PERMISSION TO FUCK MY FEELS THIS HARD

i love everything, and i especially appreciate the decision to work in some easter-egg lines upon restarting the vn after having completed a route. on a structural level, it might seem superfluous, but on a creative-writing and literary-analysis level, it does mean a lot. among other creative decisions, it shows how much care is invested in the reader's experience, above and beyond what is strictly necessary for the plot. it's the final kiss of the story's leitmotif, that extra 'something' that brings it all to a poetic finish, and is even more impactful because that ability is unique to the structure of vns. traditional written media can use different techniques to achieve similar effects, but the fact that some of the actual lines change depending on previously-logged data is an ingenious use of this format. bellissimo!

This is awesome, congratulations shirokoi <3<3

Hey, so apparently, starting from the beginning makes....idk how to explain this but it just repeats the same lines right after they're shown sometimes, just slightly different?

This happens when you meet Phillip and when you meet the remnant for the first time, there might've been more that I missed, but I simply do not know if they were intended or not to notice those.

Ah that’s not supposed to happen. Dialogue is supposed to vary slightly depending on whether or not you’ve completed Sissel’s route. Could you post screenshots of where this happens? I’ll try to get this fixed ASAP.

I think an example is in Day1

In line 29 you have

if persistent.repeat == "true":

I think you meant to have

elif persistent.repeat == "true":

Or maybe have

Line 9
if persistent.repeat =! "true":

Line 29
else:

Right after this part,

you get these choices (which I don't think were supposed to happen, since I haven't played through Sissel's route yet)

And for the remnant part, it's this:

into this right after:

Those are the only ones I noticed so far though, sorry for the very late response btw!

Thank you for the reports! I've fixed them on my end and will be putting out a fixed update later tonight! QWQ

Wicked!

I think I figured out what it is, the alignment.

If you look at day1 lines 289 - 309, you'll see that they're not aligned correctly under the "if persistent.repeat == "false":"

So they end up falling outside of the "if persistent.repeat == "false":"

Also, maybe put at least 3 blank lines between where the new content ends and the old content starts up again. That way people who have already read the content can continue skipping seen text.

Thank you, Shirokoi!

It's exciting to see my (other) nickname in credits:))))

Man, it's so nice to see all the progress Repeat's gone through. I remember falling in love with the story and all the characters years ago and now I can fawn over the ending of Sissel's route!
